Empowering our People

Our staff are the heart of AdvocAid. We want to empower our people by developing staff recognition and support processes, and strengthening the professional development opportunities for our staff.

AdvocAid is only able to achieve because of the hardworking, dedicated, passionate staff and volunteers at our helm. We want to empower our people through two core means: reviewing and developing staff recognition and support processes; and strengthening staff professional development opportunities.

Reviewing and developing staff recognition and support processes

Our staff have remained dedicated, hardworking and highly impactful through the toughest of challenges including the Ebola epidemic and the COVID-19 pandemic and their effects on our internal workings.

We are working to bring in new processes and rewards, building on our recent purchase of uniform elements for staff, providing more visibility via our website, events, and continuing to listen to and respond to new ideas from staff. We will be led by what makes our staff feel recognised and valued for their hard work and commitment.

Strengthening staff professional development and opportunities

AdvocAid strongly believes that professional development is a crucial part of our ability to recognise, reward and give back to our team as well as allowing the organisation to grow and develop.

Our new performance management system will allow individuals to set and be supported with their professional development goals which will span soft, technical and self- management skills. We would also like to ensure that more of those who have worked within the organisation are able to progress to new positions, where the capacity and interest is present.

I have learned how to build bridges….I simply feel like I have to do anything in my power to help the client, and I know this is because of the principles instilled in me by AdvocAid.
